How To: Improvise Your Own Health Club Directory

The first thing that you probably say when you're flicking through all of the available health clubs in your chosen city is: "Wow!" - purely because of the vast amount of choice there is available. For many health club companies, setting up base multiple times per city is the norm, and therefore you're left with a plethora of different businesses and locations to choose from. Even though you may seek choice, the sheer choice of health clubs in the current state of the health market can be rather overwhelming. That's part of the reason why you want to use a health club directory to come to a decision about which health club to join.

Too Many Vendors

There are a lot of directories available that list only health clubs, because of how many health clubs there are to list! In fact, there are perhaps even TOO many directories, which adds to the confusion of just finding an all-round good health club. The fact of the matter is that many businesses will pay to be listed in a directory, and therefore you may be cheated into what seems like an impartial ranking of health clubs in your area.

Research the Market

The first thing you should do is jump onto your computer (not literally, of course!) and begin using the internet to get a broad view of the type of health club facilities available in your area. This can be far easier than you imagine, due to the fact that many online search services, such as Google, have their own directory services built into the search engine, i.e. Google Maps. Google Maps is a good choice as it can display all results for your search criteria, locally to an address, on a map. For example, entering a local business search for "health club" will likely show a few drop pins up on the map around your home! The next step is to take a note of the clubs that take your fancy.

Find Good, Honest Reviews

Once you've built up a list of local health clubs that seem to offer what you're after in terms of facilities and membership options, it's best to get some opinions. And where better to get these opinions from, than the internet of course! A dilemma facing many people in search of reviews is that they end up reading genuine, impartial and trusted reviews. A good way I've found to do this is through using a search engine to find forum posts related to the health club in question.

Find a popular forum thread about the gym you're researching on your list, and perhaps even scour for a review (that lists the pros and cons of the place), and once you've found the post, all you have to do to verify it is to ensure that the member on the forum is trusted. The best way to do this is to simply check their post count and ensure that they've got enough posts on the forum to be at least a valuable source of information

Finish Your Directory

Once you've finished researching all the items on your list, it's a good idea to rank each health club into an order, which would normally be out of 5 possible health clubs. Once you've found your top five, contact each one to see if you can arrange a trial membership to try them out for yourself! You can even keep your health club directory for future reference.
